NORMAN GOTCH With great sadness the family announces the passing of their dearly beloved husband, father and grandfather, Norman Gotch on Thursday, August 10, 2000 at the Riverview Health Centre. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 48 years, Lucy; his daughter Nancy; son Mark and grandsons, David and Daryl. Norman was born in Winnipeg on October 26, 1929 at St. Josephs Hospital. He was a shy and bashful child in his beginning. On reaching his adolescence he discovered the joy of the music from an accordion. He progressed and went on to play at many banquet halls and happy functions. A couple of his favourites were In the Mood and The Beer Barrel Polka. In his early teen years Norman began to do a mans work in construction, no job was too big or too hard. In his early twenties he met his match, the love of his life, Lucy, and married her in July 1952. Norman then began to work in the cartage business and shortly after made a decision that would ultimately shape his life. His decision was to become an owner operator in his own trucking business. He was very committed to his business and very successful for some forty odd years until the time that ill health forced him to retire. Norman was a man of great perseverance and commitment to both his work and ultimately to his family. He enjoyed many happy years with his family. He was a private man and enjoyed the closeness of his family at home, at the familys cottage and travelling. Norman was a man with a terrific sense of humour and a joy for life, music and had an eye for beauty. Our memories of you will never fade and the void you leave will never be filled. We will never forget you. Norman fought the biggest battle of his life due to his illness. But as was his way throughout life he never once complained or shed a tear and played the hand he was dealt right to his end, like a man. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16 in the chapel at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with viewing one half hour prior to service time. Interment in the Garden of Devotion at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden reception centre. The family wishes to thank those who were Normans friends at Riverview and the Health Sciences Centre - Dialysis Unit for whatever comforts and assistances they gave to the most important man in our lives. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
